Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Pingo may collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using Nearby Buddy, events, trips, chats, and Pro social discovery features.
Last updated: May 14, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, login method, profile details, photos, interests, country, languages, messages, friend requests, event activity, trip plans, reviews, support requests, and other content you choose to share.
We may collect technical and usage information such as device type, app version, log data, diagnostics, approximate location, feature usage, analytics data, and settings preferences so we can operate, secure, and improve Pingo.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to run Pingo features such as Nearby Buddy, maps, event discovery, event creation, trip matching, traveler discovery, friend requests, direct and group conversations, notifications, recommendations, Pro access, safety tools, account support, and product improvements.
We may use your contact information to send service messages, respond to support requests, deliver important account or policy notices, and help prevent spam, abuse, or unsafe behavior.
3. Location, Maps, And Nearby Buddy
Pingo uses location to show nearby events, nearby people, your position on the map, and city-based recommendations. When location permission is enabled, the app may update your location periodically while the service is active so nearby results stay useful.
Nearby Buddy lets users discover people around them. Normal users may see limited or blurred nearby profile previews, while Pro users may see more profile details for users who are visible in nearby results.
You can control location permission through your device settings. You can also use the Show me nearby setting in Pingo; when it is turned off, your profile should not appear to other users in Nearby Buddy results.
Some nearby, map, event, and trip features may be unavailable or less accurate if location access is disabled or if Show me nearby is turned off.
4. Events, Join Requests, And Chats
When you create an event, we may show event details such as title, category, date, city, location, capacity, visibility, image, attendee count, creator profile, and approval settings to users who can view the event.
When you join or request to join an event, your profile and request status may be visible to the event owner and, after joining, to other participants. Event conversations are intended for event owners and participants so they can coordinate and meet.
If an event owner enables manual approval, we process join requests so the owner can review and approve attendees before they enter the event or event chat.
5. Trips And Traveler Discovery
When you create a trip, we may use and display destination, city, country, dates, traveler counts, overlapping travel context, and your profile so you can discover other travelers going to the same place.
Other users may be able to find traveler previews or profile details connected to a city or trip, depending on their access level, your settings, and the feature they are using.
6. Sharing With Others And Service Providers
We may show profile, nearby, event, trip, request, attendee, traveler, review, or chat information to other users when you use features that depend on sharing that information.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us host, analyze, secure, notify, support, process purchases, or operate Pingo. We may also share information when needed to comply with law, prevent abuse, protect users, or protect our service.
7. Pro Features And Purchases
Pingo Pro may unlock expanded visibility for features such as Nearby Buddy, event discovery, trip travelers, traveler names, trip dates, overlaps, and other social discovery context.
We may process subscription status and purchase-related identifiers to provide Pro access. App Store or other payment providers may separately process payment information under their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Your Choices And Controls
You can update your profile, manage device permissions, control the Show me nearby setting, choose whether to create or join events, leave conversations where supported, manage notifications, and decide what trip or event information you share.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict certain personal information. Contact us at support@pingoapp.co for help with account or data requests.
9. Data Retention And Security
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Pingo, maintain account records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to protect Pingo and the people who use it.
10. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Pingo evolves. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the service or another appropriate method.
11. Contact
